It's been forever since we posted an update. Our most recent excitement has been Super Storm 2011. Dallas was hit hard. For those of you who aren't familiar with Texas winters, we don't get much snow - a little here and there, but we do get hit with ice. And, when we do the city is unprepared to handle it. This year it was so extreme that schools were shut for 4 days in a row! In my 20 years of living here that has never happened.
Here's a few snaps of us romping in the snow:Kelly was so excited Friday morning that I caught him out in our yard taking pics. Only a Canadian would wear his shorts in the snow. Because hey, it was still above freezing!
I, on the other hand, was all bundled up for a little sledding in the afternoon.
The dogs tried to get in on the downhill fun! One of my favorite photographs that Kelly took yesterday. Mowgli looks so content!
Looks like our friends Mandy and Shomik had a good time too!
In other news:
The New Year has begun and we've been thinking a bit about those things we want to do this year. And, we' ve been reminded that it's more important to think about what God wants you to do. Kelly and I both are working on our spiritual lives - slowing down, seeking God's direction and being faithful to spend time with Him.
We've also been working on our finances - this month we paid Kelly's car off! When we were married we had three years left of payments. Eight months later we have two cars paid for! Woo Hoo!
Kelly has gone back to school and is checking off all the required classes he needs to start the nursing program. He's currently attending Richland College. He's also been doing a lot of biking and recently saw his first Dallas Mavericks game!
Laurene is keeping busy at work. She's been attending a class called Search for Significance at her church. Laurene has also submitted a few articles at Suite101.com.
Coco continues her mischievous ways only when her parents let their guards down. This week mom and dad bought her dog food but accidentally left her bag of food in the car with her alone. That's right... Coco had an unsupervised feast! It wasn't until about 24 hours later did she eat! Coco certainly had a big buffet this week!
Bullet's highlight of the week was being carried by his Uncle Shomik on a long walk in the snow. He snuggled in Uncle's sweatshirt and was so glad he didn't have to move those old knees of his. Thank you, Uncle!!!!
And last but not least, in typical monthiversary fashion, here's our dessert to celebrate month 8!
