new life and other random stuff (part 1)

There's nothing sweeter to me than spring time. With spring right around the corner we've been getting our yard ready for some blooms and harvest.

Last weekend, Kelly built a raised bed for us to grow some herbs. Now, if we can just keep Coco out of it we might actually have some growth. We've planted spinach, green onions, red pepper, grape tomatoes, and a variety of other herbs. I hope we get something out of our first-time experiment!

Kelly really enjoys working in the yard. I think he finds it therapeutic.

Looks like we'll be having some blooms this year too. Can't wait to see what color these tulips will be!

The other morning, I woke up to this pleasant surprise....

the irises I planted a year ago are starting to bloom! Today was our first flowering.

Finally, in other news... we are doing well. Kelly is anxious for spring break right around the corner. He plans to do some extra volunteer work at the SPCA, do a little touch up painting around the house and possibly help a friend stain his deck. The last few days of break we'll be camping at Cooper Lake. Once spring break is over Kelly's back hitting the books and adding a third class to his schedule.

Laurene has been busy as ever with work. She's currently commuting on the train full-time as a result of a bang up she had with her car last month. :( In any case, she's really enjoyed the extra time to read. Her most recent cooking experiment was making her hubby Dr. Pepper ice cream - we're still working on perfecting that one!

We hit 9 months last month....Here's our heart shaped Valentine pizza to celebrate!

Last but not least, today is our little Bullet's birthday! As you may suspect, he loves rolling around in the grass and is so glad that that warm weather is finally back! Now, if we could just get those dogs to brush themselves off before coming inside. :)

Okay friends, that's our random update! See you next time. And do, keep in touch!!!
